The life of Randall "Randy" Raye Janke was one that was filled with love, adventure and obstacles. He was loved, cherished and will be missed. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and most recently great-grandfather.

Randy's story starts on August 15, 1948. The youngest of four to Alfred and Elsie (Eckert) Janke. He was born in Norfolk at the Lutheran Hospital. He was raised on the family homestead south of Winside near the Stanton county line. He attended District #55 of Wayne County from 1st-7th grade. The school closed due to redistricting and started his 8th grade year in Winside. He graduated in 1966 from Winside High School.

In the late 1960's, after high school Randy was a truck driver for Weible Transfer until he began his passion in life, farming. He was able to stay on the family farm and continue the Janke tradition. In 1976, Randy's other passion sprouted. He along with brother, Butch Janke and Keith Gamble began tractor pulling. They started at the county and state fairs followed by their entourage from Winside. Their success led them to the Houston Astro Dome, San Antonio and Kansas City. In 1977, they went to Louisville, Kentucky for the Grand National Pull. In 1979-1980, they went on the National Circuit which led them from the east to west coast. During this time, Den Rohde joined the pulling team. While Randy was tractor pulling his father Alfred and longtime friend, Keith Suehl kept the farm running back home. Tractor pulling is where Randy met and gained many of his lifelong relationships.

April 23, 1981, Randy married Dorinda (Trautwein-Delp). Randy received a packaged deal that day as he gained two beautiful daughters in the union. Shawnette and Mindy were later adopted by Randy. They were able to be raised on the family farm as Randy was, where many of their fondest memories were made.

In 1991, Randy and Dorinda bought their retirement home near Norfolk. Randy and Dorinda later retired and Randy continued farming (his yard). During the winter months he started carpentry and made many beautiful pieces of furniture. In 2005, Randy had a major stroke. With his strong mind and determination he started exercises on his own and was walking 5 miles/day. They enjoyed traveling and have visted Estes Park, New Orleans, South Carolina, Texas, Wisconsin, Deluth, California, Arizona, Arkansas and one of Randy's favorites, Graceland. Randy enjoyed bird watching and if there was a Nascar race on t.v. you can be sure he had it on. Randy's heart and joy were his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching all of their sports from football, basketball, baseball/softball, dance recitals and just watching them play in his yard.

In 2015, Randy was diagnosed with ALS. He never let it keep him down. He even participated in the ALS walk this last year with Dorinda, the girls and brother, Dean and Lydaisy.
