Birth.
an un-named male child, son of John Riggs and Mary Riggs, formerly O'Neill, of Rotunda Gardens, Dublin, was born on 13 October 1893, at The Rotunda Hospital, Dublin.
His father was a Hospital Porter.

John Riggs, aged 66, a Hospital Porter, died on 10 December 1898
In the 1901 census, Mary Riggs was a widow.
The family were living at Upper Sackville Street [now O'Connell Street]
Mary Riggs was aged 44, a widow, a Caretaker,
John Thomas, her son, aged 7,
Hugh, Henry, her son, aged 4.

He became a pupil at The Royal Hibernian Military School Phoenix Park, Dublin.
Upon completion of his primary education c. 1907, he joined the Royal Field Artillery, and was serving in India with the 101st Battery at the outbreak of World War 1. There was no active service in India during the War, and it is thought that he died of natural causes at Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh [on what is now the India/Pakistan border].
