JOHANNES LEUENBERGER, son of HANS and LIZARBETH LEUENBERGER was born sometime prior to 1720 in Schwarzenburg [a Canton of Bern], Switzerland and left Rotterdam in February 1734 from Rotterdam on the ship, "Billander Olliver" for America with his parents and brothers. He died in 1776 in Lincoln County, North Carolina.

According to the "story", the journey of the Billander Olliver took about "18 months" and the ship arrived at Philadelphia on 26 August 1735. The father, "HANS LEUENBERGER died at sea.

The last name LEUENBERGER was spelled on ship roster is LEYENBERGER. After the arrival in Philadelphia there may have been other variations. The descendants, after settling in North Carolina and Virginia changed the spelling even further to Linebarger, Lineberger and Lionberger.

According to Myron Linebarger in his book THE FAMILY OF FIVE REPUBLICS the BILLANDER OLLIVER was a ship even smaller than the Mayflower...The roster of the ship show that there were eighteen women and three girls, which with the eighteen men whose names are given, and six boys, who unlike the women were named, makes up a total of forty-five passengers who survived the journey.
