Norma Jean Pearson, of Leawood, Kansas, passed away Friday, October 14, 2016. Norma was born August 30, 1932, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a graduate of Kensington School and East High School in 1949. For several years prior to her marriage, she was Secretary to both the Advertising Manager, then the Sales Manager of the Gas Service Company in Kansas City. Norma was an amateur photographer, contributing to coverage of those activities to which she belonged. They included the Symphony Women’s Association, the Art Study Club, Lyric Opera Guild, National Museum of Women in the Arts, and its Greater Kansas City Chapter. Other memberships included Blue Hills Country Club, Friends of the Conservatory of Music and Dance at UMKC, the Heritage Society of the National Trust for Historical Preservation, and the Society of Fellows at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

Norma leaves her husband, Richard D. Pearson of Leawood, KS. Her daughter and only child, Karen Hartley, predeceased her in 2013.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 19th, 11:00 a.m., at McGilley State Line Chapel, with the visitation prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. There will be a Celebration of Life buffet and luncheon at Blue Hills Country Club, 777 Burning Tree Lane, Kansas City, MO, immediately following the funeral service. Private burial. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Norma’s memory to the Women’s Committee Scholarship Fund, Conservatory of Music and Dance UMKC, 4949 Cherry Street, Kansas City, MO, 64112-2229.
