Mr. John Wilbur Yarbrough, 86, of Neosho, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday evening, April 5, 2018, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri, after a brief illness.

John entered this life on October 11, 1931, in West Plains, Missouri, son of the late Wilbur Thomas and Lucy Rebecca (Woods) Yarbrough. He was raised and attended school in West Plains, Missouri. John resided in Kansas before moving to McDonald County, Missouri, in 1956. In 1974, he and his wife Mary left Missouri and moved to Sebeka, Minnesota. Mary passed away in 1976 and on March 18, 1977, he married Edna Thompson. They left Minnesota in 1985 and returned to McDonald County. John retired from Hudson Foods in Noel, Missouri, as supervisor. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and cattle hauling and trading.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Mary Yarbrough and Edna Yarbrough; a daughter, Mary Jo Whitaker; two stepchildren, Jo Ann Brown and Merle Dean Thompson; and four siblings, Henry, Hazel, Dorothy and George.

John is survived by one daughter, Karen Sue Cole of Neosho, Missouri; two stepdaughters, Oleta Kay Tosh and husband, Bill, of Goodman, Missouri and Irma Jewel Hunnicutt and husband, John Paul, of Noel, Missouri; one grandson, Shawn Hesselink of Newport News, Virginia; numerous step-grandchildren, great and great-great step-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Romans of Moline, Kansas; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Yarbrough are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Curt Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in the Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
