WANDA RENE CALLAHAN
June 24, 1939 ~ April 6, 2018
On April 6, 2018, Wanda Rene Callahan, entered her heavenly home at the age of 78.
Wanda was born on June 24, 1939 in Goose Creek, Texas. She was the daughter of Robert E. and Violet I. (Moorehead) Whitaker.
Wanda and Willard Callahan were united in marriage on April 7, 1966 in Baytown, Texas. She was a member of the Southside Church of God in Mena, Arkansas.
Wanda enjoyed life on the farm, raking hay in the summers and driving in the mountains. She enjoyed working in her yard planting flowers and trees. Wanda enjoyed many types of music and would listen to that music for hours.
In the last several years, she LOVED to watch FOX News all day. More than anything she loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two great grandsons and one brother.
She leaves to continue her memory, her beloved husband of 52 years, Willard (Butch), of the home; two daughters, August May Medher and her husband, Tom, of Highlands, NC; Charlotte Blake and her husband, Derrick, of Watson, OK;
Three grandchildren, Jason Kiersey, Amber Ashby and Blane Blake; five great-grandchildren; one brother, C.E. (Butch) Whitaker of Bronson, TX; one sister, Bobbie Lea Lusty and her husband, Ricky, of Richland Springs, TX; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at 11:00 am at Watson Cemetery in Watson, OK. Patrick Blake and Bro. Lloyd Allen (Jug) Taylor will officiate.
A visitation service will be held at Mena Church of God located on Hwy 88 E Mena, Arkansas from 5:00 - 8:00.
