LORAN U. BIGGS
Loran Biggs, 65, Nevada, died Tuesday, June 27, 1989, at 7:20 p.m. at the Nevada City Hospital.
He was born June 24, 1924, in Nevada, the son of Jasper Clinton and Bessie Tibitha Cline Whittaker Biggs. He was united in marriage to Oma Lee Shaw Sept. 7, 1947, at Nevada. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a steam fireman at the Nevada State Hospital for 22 years prior to retirement. He was a member of the Evangelistic Center Church of Nevada.
Survivors include: his wife, Oma Lee of the home; one son, Loran Biggs Jr. of Joplin; three daughters, Bessie Westhoff of Carl Junction, Viola Brooks of Harwood and Lillian Brower of Lexington, South Carolina; 12 grandchildren, Christine Benn, Richard Harper, Eddie Brooks Jr., Terry Crain, Loran Ulmant Biggs III, Steven Brooks, Dustin Crain, Veneta Brower, Harry Biggs, Eric Westhoff, Carl Wilson and Shane L. Biggs; four great-grandchildren, Robert Benn III, Rashella Harper, Mason Benn and Richard Ray Harper III; one sister, Mildred Horine of Pinehurst, Idaho; one niece, Viola F. Urner of Nevada and one nephew, Billy Vaughn of Nevada who were raised by his parents.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were brothers and sisters: John Clinton Biggs, Dexa Asentha Vaughn, Carrie Beatrice Pryor, James Biggs, Fred Cleophas Biggs, Glessie Whittaker Biggs, Emma Veneta Rose Burris, Eva Ester Canady and Rollo Otto Biggs.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 1, at the Deepwood Cemetery in Nevada. The Rev. Ronnie Smith will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the Milster Chapel in Nevada Friday between the hours of 7 and 8 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home Chapel now and until 9:30 am. Saturday.
