Alton James Johnson was born August 23, 1926 in Wells, Texas, to Bennie Lee and Willie Lee Latham Johnson. Alton was raised in Wells and graduated from Wells High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Johnson was a truck driver and retired after 38 years. Alton married Linda Johnston and they celebrated 40 years together. He was a member of the Still Waters Cowboy Church and enjoyed fishing, riding horses, and tinkering in his shop. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Alton James Johnson, Jr., grandson Danny Joe Johnson, brother Leon Johnson, and sisters Ruth Shoemaker and Sherry Johnson.
