Janice E. (Taylor) Coats was born on October 29th, 1957 in Norman, Oklahoma and was called to her eternal home in Heaven on April 5th, 2018 at her home in Moore. Janice was the youngest child born to Earl and Beulah Taylor who both preceded her in death, as well as a brother James Taylor, and sister Debbie.

She is survived by her husband Mike Coats of the home, son-in-law Nathan Coats of Moore, brother- in-law Danny and wife Sherri Coats of Ada, Oklahoma, one niece and one nephew, sister-in-law Brenda Taylor of Norman, and many friends and loved ones.

December 31st, 1992 became a very important day for Janice, for it was at 2:00 a.m. that she became sober after many years of alcohol abuse. She looked forward to receiving her yearly medallion each year.

Janice became a member of Crossroads Church in 1998 and has been a member since then, but her failing health in recent years prevented her from attending. It was at Crossroads that she became a Step Study Leader for Celebrate Recovery which was very dear to her heart. It was during this time that she would meet Mike, they were married in Norman on September 28th, 2004. Janice loved attending Southern Gospel concerts and in 1999 became the State of Oklahoma Volunteer Coordinator for Bill Gaither concerts, continuing until her health would not permit.

She also loved Home Interior products and sold them for many years. Her love for them can still be seen in her home today. While a sales associate, she received many, many awards for sales records in the Oklahoma City area. Janice was a Staff Accountant for Locke Supply from 1997 to 2007 when she was forced into medical retirement. During her retirement, she taught a card making class as well as a scrapbooking class and enjoyed attending scrapbooking parties. She also enjoyed watching Westerns and the many Bill Gaither DVD’s she collected.

Each year, Janice looked forward to Christmas when she and Mike would host their annual Open House, which was enjoyed by many over the years. Mike and Janice would like to thank Crossroads Hospice for the excellent care that was given. Special thanks as well to the other caregivers who helped during her last days. And finally, a very big thank you to Aaron Baldridge for all the care, support, and love shown to both of us.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on April 8th, 2018 from 2 to 5 p.m. A service to Celebrate Janice’s life will be held on April 9th, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the John Ireland Funeral Home Chapel at 120 South Broadway, Moore, Oklahoma.Interment to follow at Blanchard Cemetery.
