Wilma Louise Elliott Thomas, 80, of Palmer, passed away in Waxahachie on Thursday, April 5, 2018. Burial will be at Palmer Cemetery.

Wilma was born in Eastland, Texas, to the late B.J. and Dora Elliott. She graduated from Olden High School and attended Texas Christian University. On December 2, 1962, she married Hayman Thomas from Olden, TX. They made their home in Mesquite before moving to Palmer in 1976.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Palmer – serving in many capacities including pianist and organist. Once her girls were in elementary and junior high, she went to work for Ennis Fire Dept. doing ambulance billing. From there she worked for Palmer ISD and then Waxahachie ISD where she retired in 2002.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and their wives, Jack Elliott and his wife, Doris, and Dean Elliott and his wife, Mattie; two nephews; and a niece.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Hayman, of Palmer; daughters, Teel Witt and her husband, David, of Palmer, and Susan Schmidt and her husband, Jason, of Waxahachie; grandchildren: James Allen, Jr., Jeffery Allen and his wife, Brittany, Katie Allen, Shawn Witt and his wife, Yvonne, Jenna Schmidt, and Conner Schmidt; great-grandchildren, Alexxay Witt and Samuel Allen; three sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
