LEMAR KERNERSVILLE - Frances Joyce Lemar, 88, went home to be with her Lord on January 25, 2009. Funeral Services Celebrating her Life will be held at 11:00AM Thursday January 29, 2009 at Cherry Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Perry officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. A native of Forsyth County, she was born November 4, 1920 to the late Mabel Stockton and Elbert Lee Joyce. She was a graduate of Sedge Garden School Class of "37. She was a longtime member of the Cherry Street United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Evangelism/Outreach Committee, and was active with the visitation of the "shut-ins". She epitomized "Love God, Love People". She never met a stranger and was a loving wife/mother/grandmother/great-grandmother/and friend, and truly considered all those she knew her family. Frances was preceded in death by her husband Carl Rober "CR" Lemar who died in 1982. She was also preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers. Survivors include her daughter Cheryl Kiger and her husband Terry of Kernersville; son Thomas Lemar and his wife Vickie of Holden Beach; grandchildren Jennifer and Rob Whitley, Michelle and Loren Novakovich, Brett and Carrie Kiger, and Duane Hall; great-grandchildren Zachary Whitley, and Nicholas and Alex Novakovich; sister Mary and A.B. Moore of High Point; brother Wade Joyce of Kernersville; half sister Emma Jean and Roger Witcher of Germanton; half brothers Bill Joyce and Betty, Michael Joyce and Mary, and David Joyce; and her very special friend Jim Lockwood. The family will receive friends from 5-7PM Wednesday evening at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home.
