Freddie Christian Lewis 71, unexpectedly entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 8:56 a.m. at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville, Virginia

Freddie was born August 31, 1946 to the late Annie Lewis and Hallie Samuel in Caroline County, Virginia. At an early age, Freddie accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined Mount Salem Baptist Church. He received his education in the Caroline County public school system. While his family; uncles, aunts, cousins and high school friends were leaving Ruther Glen, Virginia after graduating, Freddie decided he would stick it out in his hometown.

Freddie never had a problem finding a job. As a matter of fact, Freddie started working before he left high school for Kidwell Grocery Store, the oldest and most respected food store in the community. His outstanding work ethics and performance landed him a
job with the first big chain grocery store, Safeway to come into the Bowling Green area. From there he moved on up to the Food Lion in Fredericksburg and Bowling Green where he always worked in the produce department. After which, he ended up at Walmart where he retried. Freddie wasn't happy sitting around, so he quickly went back to work at his old spot at Walmart, even to add an additional job working at CARQUEST in Carmel Church, Virginia. He was happiest working and he did until his passing.

Freddie lived with his mother, assisting and helping to care for her
after her family moved from the home place. His mother, Annie cherished their home where they both remained until her death. Freddie was well known and lived in the Ruther Glen community. If he wasn't seen around the community he was soon checked on by one of his neighbors. He was a DIE-HARD Dallas Cowboy fan. You could never win an argument with Freddie concerning who was the best team in the NFL. Freddie was a kind, independent and humorous person who will be sorely missed.

In addition to his parents, his daughter Letitia's mother Vanessa Coles, his sister, Polly Giggetts; two brothers, Hallie and John Samuel; nine aunts, Evelyn Carter, Louise Carter, Hortense Brown, Hope Brown, Ollie Wiley, Nancy Washington, Isabelle Washington, Rhoda Paige and Irene Hackett; seven uncles, James, Robert, Burton, Sr., Grandville, Leroy, Fritz Lewis and Paul Samuel all preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn his death, two daughters, Juliete and Letitia; one son, Darnell; three granddaughters, Lashay, Dazia and Tenna; four grandsons, Troy, Kevin, Virgil and Dominque; twelve great-grandchildren; six sisters; Victoria Draughn, Bessie Jones, Columbia Bridges ( Charles), Jane Davis (Dennis), Clarissar Samuel, and Bernice Brown (Gerald); three nephews; Geraldine Coleman, mother of Juliete and Darnell; a host of cousins among them Austin who is 96 years old and many friends, among them his Walmart friends; John "Horse" Anderson, Linwood Farmer and Elridge "Hook" Tyler.

A viewing will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427. Family will receive friends from 7 to 8:00 p.m.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Caroline Community Center, 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Milford, Virginia 22514 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in the Mount Lawn Cemetery, Woodford, Virginia
