According to P. D. Browne:
William Francis Daniel (8/25/1811-9/12/1872) and his first wife, Frances (Riddle) Daniel are buried in an unmarked graves near their old homestead at Fryer's Springs

William Francis Daniel, son of Josiah L. Daniel and Mary Daniel, was born 25 Aug 1811 in Edgefield County, South Carolina. His parents were cousins. Josiah died when William was two. About six years later his mother married second Jeremiah Hatcher, Sheriff of Edgefield. William's half siblings from this marriage were Richard Johnson, Mary A. D., and Catherine Amelia Hatcher. William's step-father died in 1827.

William, his mother, and the three young Hatchers migrated to Alabama, and lived in Butler and Dallas counties. About 1838, William Francis married Frances Riddle, daughter of Archibald RIDDLE and Elizabeth TATE of Georgia.

In 1838, W. F. Daniel witnessed the will of James Hatcher in Dallas County, Alabama. James was a brother or first cousin of Jeremiah Hatcher, his deceased step-father. William's wife, Frances Riddle, was James' niece through Elizabeth Tate, sister of James' wife, Martha Tate. James was also a guardian of Frances Riddle's sister, Permilia. William's half siblings were James Hatcher's nephews or cousins. Any of these relationships explain why William witnessed James' will.

William Francis, farmer, was also an Attorney and Land Agent in Wilcox County, Alabama.

By 1850, W. F. and Frances had two sons and a daughter: John P.*, 11, and Francis B., 5, and Martha E., 2. [*Later records show him as John T.]

William was a Master Mason, a member of Dale Lodge 25 in Alabama. In 1851 he became the first Worshipful Master of the Fairfield, Texas Lodge.

On 26 Dec 1850, William Francis purchased 1107 acres in Freestone County, Texas, having recently moved his family there from Alabama. William's wife, Frances Riddle Daniel, died in Freestone County in 1852.

William remarried in 1854 to Josephine Estelle "Josie" Love, daughter of Joseph B. Love and Rebecca J. McElroy of Madison County, Tennessee, proven by censuses and this record from Madison County. Deed Book 10-19, 1845-1857, pgs. 259-260: John W. Love, Navarre Co., TX., William J. Love, William F. Daniel and Josephine Daniel formerly Love, Freestone Co., TX. Gave POA to James R. Williamson, Navarre Co., TX. To receive for them their interest in the estate of our father Joseph B. Love late of Madison Co., TN. Dec 3 1857, Reg Jan 26 1858.

Jul 13, 1859, Freestone Frontiers, page 6, letter shows William, 45 yrs old, an attorney and farmer with wealth of $42,400 and owning 36 slaves.

In the 1860 census of Fairfield, Freestone County, Texas, Freestone County, Texas, William and Josie had five children in the household: Francis R., 15, Martha E., 12, and children by Josephine, Wm Dunbar, 4, Moultrie, 3, Leonard, 1, and W. F.'s mother, Mary Hatcher, 72. William's oldest son, John L. [sic], 21, was their next door neighbor. By 1870 W. F. and Josie added Fanny, 9, and Anna, 7, to their family.
