Actor. He is best remembered for his portrayals of Daniel Norsen in "Tennessee Champ" (1954) and as Officer Corey in "The Twilight Zone" episode, "I Shot an Arrow into the Air" (1960). After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he began his acting career in local theatre when he was discovered by film director Howard Hawks. After making his first major film debut in "The Golden Gloves Story" (1950) he went on to enjoy a fruitful career often portraying adventurous and strong-willed men. He also appeared in such films as "The Big Sky" (1952), "Land of the Pharaohs" (1955), "Meet Me in Las Vegas" (1956), "The Proud and The Profane" (1956), "Ten Thousand Bedrooms" (1957), and "Flight to Fury" (1964). In addition, he was married to actress - singer Peggy Lee from 1956 to 1959, and he later became a household name appearing on such television shows as "Lux Video Theatre," "The Loretta Young Show," "Laramie," "Death Valley Days," "The Outer Limits," "I Spy," "Hawaii Five-O," "Mannix," and "Police Story." In 1978, he retired from acting to concentrate on his family and real estate ventures.
