AKRON -- Jack Donald Oliver, a modest person and infinitely talented craftsman, passed away February 20, 2018, from esophageal cancer at 57 years of age.
Jack enjoyed a variety of artistic mediums - stained glass, stone, food, paint and wood. He created, drew and carved decorative and functional works of beauty. He lovingly gifted artworks to family and friends over many years.
Jack had passion for adventure and the outdoors. Memorable experiences include stone carving in Ohio and cheffing for a dude ranch in Wyoming. He bicycled from California to Florida, learned to fly fish in Montana and enjoyed owl and bird watching from his current home in Akron.
Jack studied culinary arts at Hocking College and graduated from South Range High School in North Lima in 1979.
Born November 26, 1960, Jack is remembered for his kind, tender heart, witty humor, fortitude and handsome mustaches.
Jack leaves a devoted partner, Tiffany Clark, and her son, Jason; mother, Barbara; six siblings, Thomas (Brenda), Virginia, David (Christine), Donald (Brenda), Barbara and Patricia (Sheri); and twenty adored nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald, and brother-in-law, Nik Amstutz.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at a later date. The family prefers memorial contributions to Operation Orphan Wildlife Rehabilitation, Inc., P.O. Box 15042, Akron, OH 44314 or Crossroads Hospice Care, 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr., Ste. E, Green, OH 44685.
