Darrell Lynn Cox

Darrell Lynn Cox, 69, of Boise, Idaho, passed away on March 30, 2018 in Meridian, Idaho, from natural causes.

He was born in Fairfield, Idaho on July 20, 1948 to parents Wayne and LaRae. He was the 5th of 6 children, sisters Billie, Gwen and Toni and brothers Marvin and Leo. He grew up in Fairfield and graduated from Camas County High School in 1966. Darrell went on to college at Idaho State University, graduating with a degree in Business Administration. He loved the outdoors, loved to socialize and loved to make people laugh. He was a friend to all and knew no strangers. Darrell had 4 daughters, Jeni (Drew) Ranstrom, Jami (Jon) Harris, Ashlee (Kipp) Chambers and Melissa (Torrey) Bollinger. From these daughters came his 12 grandchildren who he loved and who brought him so much joy and laughter, Hunter, Briggs, Allie, Hailey, Regan, Ella, Evan, Hazyl, Harper, Cove, Jessa and Rowan. They will forever love their "Papa D". The family also wants to thank all of his close friends who cared for and helped Darrell, and especially his loving companion during his last few years, Carolyn.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and LaRae, brother Leo and wife Shar.

One of the greatest treasures that Dad left us was his stories. He always had a way with words. Even with the tough task of writing his own obituary, he managed to say it perfectly with honesty, respect and love.

"Even in death it is important to me to have the last word. Benjamin Franklin reminded us that our bodies are just a vessel to hold our spirit. When that vessel is broken it is time to move on to the next adventure. I can only hope that it will be as good as this one has been. I have made mistakes along the way, but I also did lots of things right. I have disappointed myself a few times but overall, I am proud of my life. I had the pleasure of watching four little girls grow into good productive adults, mothers and wives. They have created a total of 12 grandchildren all unique, good students and genuinely caring. I will miss them all. My children had a wonderful mother whom I respect greatly. I have known deep romantic love and wept when it ended. I also found love one last time with a caring, giving mate. It has been a great life, great world, great friends and family. Thank you all! Darrell"

A Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 7, 2018 in the gymnasium at the LDS church located at 5555 N. Locust Grove. Casual dress is welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate in his name to Great Strides, towards Team Regan Kate and her fight against Cystic Fibrosis.
