Maynard Mayo Pickett, 86, of Austinville, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at his home. Mr. Pickett was born in Virginia to the late Oscar & Sallie Elizabeth Grimes Pickett. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Frazier Pickett; son, Lonnie Pickett; brothers, Malcolm Pickett, Bascom Pickett, Basil Pickett, Carl Pickett, and Willis Pickett; and sisters, Ina Alley, Lola Pickett, Alma Pickett, Sylvia Lawson, and Tressie Pickett. Survivors include sons & daughters-in-law, Donnie & Janet Pickett and Todd & Tammy Pickett; grandchildren, Kayla, Scottie, Wendy, and Wesley; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister-in-law, Maxine Pickett; and special nephew, Tommy Oakes. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Elder Ronald Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Pickett Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Grover King Post 1115 VFW. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
