Jonathan B. Hicks

February 13, 1975 - April 03, 2018


Jonathan B. Hicks, age 43, a resident of Cookeville and Crossville for the past 24 years, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning at his home after a brief battle with cancer.

He was a 1993 graduate of West Greene High School and a graduate of the Tennessee Technological University of Class of 2011.


He was employed by Cosby Harrison Company (formerly TAP Publishing Company) and was previously employed by Perdue Farms Incorporated.


Jonathan was a member of Central Baptist Church in Crossville, TN, where he was a Media Team member as well as actively involved in the youth groups.


His hobbies included mission trips, do-it-yourself projects, hiking, camping, various fellowship activities, gardening, and was a computer enthusiast.


Survivors include his parents: Charles "Phil" and Juanita Hicks of Midway; brother and sister-in-law: Timothy and Wilma Hicks of Augusta, GA; nephew and his wife: Philip and Sarah Hicks; niece: Courtney Hicks; great-nephew: Noah and great-niece: Madison Hicks all of Augusta; close friends: Holly Olson and Judy Collins both of Crossville; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; beloved dogs: Ace and Gerry; beloved cats: Curiosity and Brave.


He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Carl and Jane Hicks, Eugene and Viola Bowman.


Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mosheim Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Marty Hicks will officiate. Interment will follow in Brown Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 – 5 p.m. (CST) Thursday at Central Baptist Church in Crossville and from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. Friday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Lannie Hicks, Philip Hicks, Doyle Smelcer, Ryan Witt, Andy Foulks, Odell Hicks, George Gross, and Richard Bowman. Honorary pallbearers will be his coworkers at Cosby Harrison Company and members of Central Baptist Church.
