Martha Elnora (Sanborn) Stark, 91, of Newberry Michigan died with her children at her side Thursday afternoon, March 29, 2018 at Newberry Assisted Living Community where she has resided for the past five years. Martha was October 9, 1926 in Rome, N.Y., daughter of the late Joseph and Garledeen (Palmeteer) Sanborn. 
Her main goal in life was that of being a very devoted homemaker, where she will always be remembered for putting her family needs first. In addition she worked many years for the City of Midland as a crossing guard and also owned and operated with her husband The Brown Derby, a supper club in Midland Michigan for several years. In 1966 Martha moved to Newberry after her husband Harold Stark took a job with the Department of Natural Resources as a Conservation Officer/Pilot. With her children raised Martha then worked several years at the Club in Dollarville as a Bartender/cook. 
Martha enjoyed playing bingo, trips to the casino, playing cards with family and friends and walleye fishing on Big Manistique Lake. But her favorite time was spent with her children and grandchildren. 
In addition to her parents Martha was preceded in death by her husband Harold Stark on September 15, 1990 and an infant daughter Tessa Town in 1945; brothers Eber Sanborn and Ralph Cutler and sisters Doris Stevens, Lena Cutchall, Opal Arndt, Mae Sanborn, Joan Turner, Almeda Caison and Patricia Laplow; daughter-in-law Margaret Stark and son-in-law William Gonsalves. 
Survivors include her children Oliver (Mary) Town of Midland, Terry Stark of Newberry, Susan Stark of Kingwood, TX and Daniel (Darlene) Stark of Midland; grandchildren Crystal (Tony) Owen of Kingwood, TX, Brian Kegebien of Tacoma, WA, Taggart (Lisa) Town of Grand Rapids, Justin (Michelle) Town of Midland, Jeremy Stark of Kincheloe, Sarah (Bachir) Asmine of Corona, CA and Christopher (Jessica) Stark of Kingsley, Amanda Stark of Comstock Park, Carey Stark of Bear Lake, Andrew Henriksen of Midland, Erica (Ryken) Etelamaki of Midland, Shannon (Chris) Maki of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, Tynna (Dereyk) Goodwin of London, Ontario, Canada and Micaela (Andy) Maki of London, Ontario, Canada; 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and all of the loving and caring staff of Newberry Assisted Living Community. 
Funeral services will be announced at a later date and will held at the Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry with Fr. Marty Flynn officiating. Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Home Cemetery.
