Judith Ann Hopkins, age 73, passed away April 2, 2018 at Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, Montana.
Judy was born on November 26, 1944 in Park City, Montana to Russell and Lola Bolin. She was one of three siblings raised in Terry, Montana. Her brother Kenneth and sister Dora lived their lives in Oregon.
Judy graduated at Terry High School in 1963. She was a member of F.H.A., Pep Club, Chorus and girls sextet. She twirled baton, was a member of the class play and was selected for all star chorus while in high school. She was a past worthy advisor in Rainbow and State Grand Representative in Rainbow Assembly. After graduation, with her many talents and credentials, she won the Miss Eastern Montana Beauty Pageant. While growing up in Terry, it should be mentioned how fond Judy was of her cat “Blackie”.
Judy had some post high school studies near Ellendale, North Dakota in general/business/bookkeeping and was employed for a time at an elementary school in Fargo, North Dakota where she met John Gebhardt on a blind date. So, her journey began as a military housewife and mother. Through this time, she had an opportunity to live in Biloxi, Mississippi where she gave birth to her son Anthony. She also lived in Sacramento and Sunnyvale, California, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Denver, Colorado.
The rest of her time away from Terry was spent with Roger Hopkins, an aerospace engineer. Her travels continued with several years in Los Angeles before returning to her home in Terry. There she spent the rest of her days enjoying her hometown friends and playing piano for a number of years at the Presbyterian Church where she was also a deacon. She enjoyed many fishing adventures with her very dear friend and companion of over 30 years Richard Foss. They fished all around the area and high country alpine lakes in the Big Horn and Beartooth Mountains of Wyoming.
Judy fell ill with a stroke in 2011 and shared her remaining days with friends in the community and meals with her dearest companion Richard. Richard always took care of Judy’s needs and made sure she was as comfortable as possible.
Judy is survived by her son Anthony Gebhardt and his wife Theresa of Blair, Nebraska and their children Ted, John, Jaris and Jenda; great grandchildren are Atticus (Ted and Allison) and Weston (John and Alyssa); two nephews: Russ and Dave Bolin; one niece Kay Bolin; children of her deceased brother Kenneth Bolin of Oregon; and her special companion Richard Foss of Terry.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 1:00-6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Terry.
Interment will follow in the Prairie County Cemetery.
