Doris Jean "Dee" Frazier, 85, died at 1:08 a.m., Friday, March 30, 2018 at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.

She was born in White Hall, Illinois on April 16, 1932, and was the daughter of Clarence and Norma (Retherford) Hatcher.

For many years, Dee worked for the State of Illinois as an Office Administrator with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, working for the most part out of the Alton office, but occasionally in Jerseyville as well. After her retirement, with her desire to remain active, but most importantly, social, she began keeping the books, as well as tending bar at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Jerseyville, along with several other local establishments.

Dee was a lady who enjoyed what life threw at her. She was remarkably social, and enjoyed being around those she cared deeply for, and she did care deeply.

Her grandchildren were her joy, and she took great pride in being a part of their lives, whether it was attending the school/sporting activities, or being a part of the group of kids at their home.

She was very active and instrumental in the Jersey County Softball League, and was a huge St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, and enjoyed playing Bunco as well as her bowling trips with her group of friends.

Her wonderful smile and zest for life will certainly be missed.

She was formerly married to David Martin, and together they had three children, Vicki, Doris and David. She then married James "Red" Frazier, and together, they had a daughter, Michele.

Surviving are her son, David C. Martin of Grand Island, Nebraska; a daughter and son in-law, Michele and Bo Herkert of Fieldon; nine grandchildren, Tanner Herkert, Ryan Herkert, and Hunter Herkert all of Fieldon, Danielle Parr and her companion, Cody Hayes of Kane, Deaven and Michael Beyers of Delhi, Gary and Roberta Connolly of Jerseyville, Chad Connolly of Saint Louis, Mo., Marty and Sawyer Martin of Pittsfield, and Jennifer and John Poss of Fort Polk, Louisiana; 10 Great Grandchildren; a sister, Ann Weber of Carrollton; numerous nieces and nephews; her former husband and dear friend, Red Frazier and his wife, Debbie of Jerseyville; and a host of very dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Vicki Martin of Nov. 8, 2011 and Doris "Sissy" Martin on Jan. 29, 2010; two brothers, Richard Hatcher and Gene Hatcher; as well as two step fathers, Louis Winters and Alvin "Cotton" Bensa.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Father Steve Pohlman will officiate.

Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.

Memorials may be given to the family in care of the funeral home, and will be used to in the form of scholarships.
