Geraldine (Gerry) Joyce Rowe, 85, of Palm Harbor, FL passed March 23, 2018 at Dunedin, FL.
Gerry was born August 18, 1932 in Grand Rapids, MN to Gerald and Catherine Aiton. She was a 1950 graduate of Grand Rapids Sr High School and then enrolled in the School of Nursing at Abbott Hospital in Minneapolis. Gerry was a nurse and nurse educator receiving her R.N. from Abbott Hospital in 1953. She became Charge Nurse of Pediatrics at Highland Park, IL and in 1954 began nursing at Itasca Memorial Hospital in Grand Rapids, always proud of the fact that this was where she began as a Candy Striper at age 14. In 1965 she became an Instructor of the LPN program at Itasca Community College where she taught until her retirement in 1983. She then moved to Palm Harbor, FL with her husband, Bob, who had retired from his involvement with the Rowe Funeral Home in Grand Rapids. Gerry spent several years in Florida as a visiting nurse in home nursing. She and her husband also worked together beginning a silk floral design business in Dunedin, FL, which they operated for 7 years. She was also very active in her condominium association serving all of the offices of the Assn Board of Directors.

Now this chapter for Gerry has ended. She is on the next adventure of an immortal soul who has concluded this human experience. She has touched the lives of so many during her professional career.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert L Rowe; daughters, Katherine Rowe-Ventrucci, Palm Harbor, FL; Stephanie (Brian) Shay, Mercer Island, WA; and son Robert (Bobby) B (Wendy) Rowe, Clearwater Beach, FL; sisters, Delores (Mert) Rima and Kathleen (John) Pliska of Grand Rapids; brothers Bruce (Katheryn) Aiton, Grand Rapids and Vernon Aiton of Delta Junction, AK; 5 grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation at the Rowe Funeral Home, Saturday, July 14th from 1-3 p.m. with interment at Itasca/Calvary Cemetery at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Father Charles P Flynn officiating. Memorials and acts of remembrance may be directed in Gerry's name to donor's choice or to the ICC School of Practical Nursing or to your local Hospice Chapter. (Grand Rapids Herald Review 3/27/2018)
