Eunice Susie (Shewbuirt) Funk Griffin, 96, of Tuttle, died Saturday, March 31, 2018, in Oklahoma City. She was born on February 3, 1922 in Monette, Arkansas to Vernie Dell (Lundy) Shewbuirt and William Edward Shewbuirt.

She graduated from Choctaw High School in 1938. Eunice married Clayton Funk and they had two children, Susan and Ronald. She left Clayton in Altoona, Pennsylvania and took both kids back to Moore, Oklahoma. Eunice rented a home from Mr. Hoffman, the furniture store owner in Moore, and lived on McKittrick Street on the east side of Moore.

Eunice supported both kids and herself by taking a job in Oklahoma City. She would walk from the home on the east side of Moore to catch a bus in downtown Moore that took her to the Hightower Building in Oklahoma City. There she worked as the main elevator operator until she met Lee Roy Griffin while he was doing business in the building. Lee Roy then took her away from the “Ups and Downs” of that job. Eunice and Lee Roy dated for about four years and were married on July 17, 1970 and moved to Newcastle. Lee Roy had three boys by a previous marriage, Jerry, Steve, and Dennis. They were blessed with 47 years together until the Lord took Eunice to her heavenly home.

She is preceded in death by her father, Edward Shewbuirt; her mother, Vernie McKittrick; a sister, Rubie Nance; and two brothers, Clifford Schwartz and Hershel Schwartz. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Susan McMakin; and a step-son, Jerry Griffin.

Eunice is survived by her husband Lee Roy Griffin of Tuttle; a son, Ron Funk and wife, Alice, of Tampa, Florida; step-sons, Steve Griffin and wife, Mandy, of Newcastle, Dennis Griffin and wife, Gicele, of Newalla; her grandchildren, Karen Winkler and husband, David, Shawn McMakin and wife, Terry, Patty McMakin, Cambriann Funk, Trevor Funk, Josh Griffin, Mandi Griffin VanPool and husband, John, Natalie Griffin Schultz and husband, Rick; great grandchildren, Sarah King and husband, Justin, Jessica Winkler Rivera and husband, Blake, Emily Winkler, Austin and Joshua Walker, and Dallas and Dixie Hawkes; great-great grandchildren Benjamin and Blake Allison, Skyler, Spencer and Angela King, and Olivia Sue Rivera; and many other loved ones and friends.

Eunice and Lee Roy are members of the Snow Hill Baptist Church in Tuttle. Their church family was front and center with prayers, love and support for Eunice and Lee Roy during the weeks of Eunice’s declining health and well-being.

A celebration of life for Eunice will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Snow Hill Baptist Church, 11 South Morgan Road, Tuttle, Oklahoma 73089. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle.
