Dorothy Ann Goebel Nedrow, 94, of Ashton, died peacefully March 31, 2018 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center surrounded by family.

Dorothy was born on October 24, 1923 to Henry and Ida Nelson Goebel in Greentimber, Idaho. She attended grade school at Warm River and then attended high school in Ashton.

On September 9, 1941 Dorothy married the love of her life, James “Jim” Nedrow. In 1942, together they built a farm, clearing it of sagebrush and chokecherries, and putting the land under irrigation.

Dorothy was a true partner on the farm and worked alongside Jim. She ran machinery, milked cows and raised the three children they were blessed with.

She was actively involved in her community by serving as a 4-H leader for 10 years and as a member of the Clover Leaf Rebekah Lodge. Dorothy and Jim volunteered numerous hours at the Ashton Flea Market and as guides at the Hess Heritage Museum for fifteen years.

Dorothy was also an active member of the Ashton Community United Methodist Church and was known for welcoming people to their annual dinners. Dorothy attended many square dances throughout the area with Jim and made many lifelong friends through dancing.

Dorothy enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and cooking. She loved growing strawberries and raspberries and her family thoroughly enjoyed the fruits of her labor.

Family was very important to Dorothy. Her home was always a gathering place and everyone enjoyed her infamous cookies and meals that she cooked on a wood burning stove.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years; her parents, two sisters Betty Nedrow and Helen “Tiny” Clarke, one brother H. Edward “Bumps” Goebel and one half-sister Bernice Goebel. Dorothy is survived by her three children: Dick (Mary) Nedrow, Judy (Steve) Sullivan, and John (Sheila) Nedrow, a half-sister Grace (Deloy) Esplin, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Mike, Shawna, Bret, Stefany, Jodi, Greg, and Scott; and eight great-grandchildren: Chloe, Hayden, Kylie, Dylan, Ashton, Logan, Aeryn and Connor.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 7 at the Ashton Community United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends Friday April 6th from 5:30 – 7:00 PM, at Baxter Funeral Home and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Ashton Community United Methodist Church or to the Ashton Living Center.

The family would like to thank the exceptional staff at the Ashton Living Center for their outstanding care that they provided our mother and grandmother for the last 15 months. We would like to thank the staff of EIRMC Second Floor ICU for their care and support during Dorothy’s final hours.
