Joe Ewing, 74, of Owensboro, went to be with Jesus on March 31, 2018. He was born in Evansville, IN on June 12, 1943 and attended Drakesboro High School. Mr. Ewing was in sales and security most of his life, over the past 25 years found his passion volunteering and serving as Head of Security for the Owensboro RiverPark Center. He enjoyed country music, played drums, and guitar in bands from the time he was 15. He played with the Yellow Banks Express Band and the Country Sunshine Band and, back in the 60's and 70's, with the Chevells and the Rebel Creek Band with Charlie Mattingly. Joe loved music and at one time played with Conway Twitty, Justin Tubb, Archie Campbell of Hee Haw fame, and George Hamilton IV.

Mr. Ewing was preceded in death by his father, Henry Ewing in 1985, his mother Addie McCoy Ewing in 1989, and a brother, Marvin Ewing in 2003. He was of the Church of God faith.

Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Carolyn Atkinson Ewing; daughters, Holly McGuire and her husband Sean of La Grange, Jennifer Ewing and Amanda Ewing of Owensboro; sons, Jeff Smith and his wife Kim and Johnny A. Ewing and his wife Sara both of Owensboro; step-children, Mark Atkinson and his wife Jeannie of Nashville, TN, Holly Bemis and her husband David of Algonquin, IL, and Sarah Kiser and her husband Brent of Severna Park, MD. Also surviving are grandchildren, Lance, Brandon, Skyler, Alec, Luke, Addie, Chloe, Lillian, Porter, Austin, John, Graham, and Elizabeth; and great-grandchildren, Eli, Aniyah and Ariyah.

A celebration of life will be 12 noon Saturday, April 7, 2018 in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Friday and after 9 a.m. on Saturday.
