Wanda JoAnne (Swanberg) McColley, 79, of Little Sioux, Iowa died Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa.

A memorial service will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with Wanda's brother , Reverend Jerald Swanberg, officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Wanda JoAnne (Swanberg) McColley was born in Little Sioux, Iowa on May 16, 1938 to Theodore and Pearl (Petty) Swanberg. Wanda grew up in Little Sioux and graduated with the class of 1957. Wanda and Martin McColley were united in marriage on March 20, 1964 in Little Sioux. Due to Martin being in the United States Navy, they moved to San Diego, California for a few years, and then they moved back to Little Sioux in July of 1968. Wanda spoke often of their time in California and always talked about going there again someday.

Martin and Wanda were blessed with three children, two daughters, Christine and Leslie, and a son, Marty. Wanda loved to cook and bake, especially during the holidays and for the many family events. Wanda loved living in her home town. She was very eager to volunteer with many committees in the area and served on the town council from time to time. Her favorite volunteer project was helping with the town's Homecoming Celebration and the All School Reunion.

She was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Little Sioux.
Wanda owned and worked in her café in Pisgah, Iowa. She also worked in Logan, Iowa for a time, then for Crossroads of Western Iowa in Onawa, Iowa before she retired. Her greatest joy was spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at the campground during summer, and at all the holiday dinners at her home throughout the years. She especially enjoyed family times together baking and decorating holiday cut out cookies. This gave her such great joy watching the grandchildren and great-grandchildren decorate all the cookies, all the laughter, and the wonderful memories that were made.

Those left to treasure her memories: her husband of fifty-four years, Martin McColley of Little Sioux, IA; daughters, Christine (Allan) Christiansen of Ute, IA and Leslie (Gregg) Goslar of Ute, IA; son, Marty (Michelle) McColley of Little Sioux, IA; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren (one on the way); brothers, Joe Swanberg of Little Sioux, IA and Jerry Swanberg and his wife Wanda of Ankeny, IA; sisters, LaVonne Stewart of Missouri Valley, IA and Gardena Wallis of Little Sioux, IA; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Pearl (Petty) Swanberg; brother, Eugene Bothwell; sisters, Phyllis Christensen and Anita Nuzum; sisters-in-law, Violet Bothwell and Alyce Swanberg; brothers-in-law, Maurice Stewart, Vernon Christensen, and Virgil Wallis; two nieces, Cindy Swanberg and Brenda Wallis; and her beloved granddaughter, Amanda Christiansen.
