William Ray “Bill” Pumphrey, age 67, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018 at his residence. Born Thursday, April 27, 1950 in Kings Mountain, he was the son of the late Chester & Maudie Marie Jenkins Pumphrey. His loving wife, whom he married October 25, 1991, is Linda Brunty Pumphrey of Lexington. Bill was a US Army Veteran, and retired from Rainbo/Dock’s Bakery Company. Bill loved spending time with his grandchildren and will be remembered for being a hard worker. Bill also enjoyed being outdoors, woodworking, watching Westerns, loved his coffee and a good meal, and was a Cincinnati Reds baseball fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Jacob Bilbrey; one brother, Otis “JR” Pumphrey; and two sisters, Lyda Stout and Mae McMahan.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00AM Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home with Pastor Carl Jones officiating the service. Burial will follow in Sims Cemetery in Kings Mountain with Military Honors performed by Caswell-Saufley Post #18 of the American Legion. Thomas Pumphrey, Matt Brunty, John Bilbrey, Will Pumphrey, Dennis Pumphrey, Andrew Longworth, and Kevin Brunty will serve as Active Pallbearers. Bill’s grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

The Visitation will be held 5-8PM Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the funeral home.
