Joseph Bill Clifton, 93, of King's Grant, Martinsville, Va., died Easter Sunday, April 8, 2007. Born on January 3, 1914 in Price, N.C., he was a son of the late Andrew Greenbury Clifton and the late Elcana Joyce Clifton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Merriman Clifton; two sons, Orrin W. Clifton and Phillip M. Clifton; seven sisters and brothers and a greatgranddaughter, Elizabeth S. Kyle. Mr. Clifton was a supervisor for E.I. Dupont for more than 30 years. He was a member of Old Well Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Spencer, Va., where he was chairman of the Building Fund Committee. He was a charter member of the Spencer Ruritan Club. Survivors include daughters-in-law, Dorothy S. Clifton of Roanoke, Va. and Carolyn R. Clifton of Winston-Salem, N.C.; grandchildren, Curt Clifton, Mari Kyle, Katie Wright, Chris Clifton and Andy Clifton; ten great-grandchildren and good friend and caregiver, Jane Willard. The funeral service will be held at Old Well Christian Church at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 with Minister Jim Dickerson and Minister Roy Parker officiating. Burial will be in Old Well Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Old Well Christian Church Cemetery Fund, 71 Old Well Road, Spencer, Va. 24165. The family wishes to thank the staff at King's Grant for five years of consistent care and kindness. Norris Funeral Services, Inc. and Crematory, Martinsville, Va. is serving the Clifton family.
