William “Bruce” Negley, 83, passed away March 19, 2018 at Moab Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Bruce was born Aug. 2, 1934 to Merlyn and Emmarae Negley in Salt Lake City, Utah. Bruce attended elementary school in Salt Lake City and in Gunnison, Colorado. He graduated from Gunnison High School and Western State College, earning both a bachelor’s and master’s degree.

He married Patricia Ann Murry on Dec. 29, 1958 and the couple moved to Moab, where he began his teaching career. He also taught in Colorado schools at Delta and Grand Junction. He taught a total of 40 years in secondary education.

Bruce is survived by his wife Patricia of Moab, three sons; Brett of Salt Lake City, Kevin (Toni) of Moab, and Kyle (Lori) of Sandy, Utah; three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

At Bruce’s request cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held later.
