Her family moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa, where Pamela lived through her junior year in high school. The family moved to Gainesville, Florida, where her father directed the Veterinarian School at the University of Florida. Pam graduated from Gainesville High School in 1964 and later attended the University of Florida where she met her future husband, Richard West. They were married June 18, 1966. Pam earned her undergraduate degree as well as her master's degree in Criminal Justice at Georgia State University in Atlanta Georgia. During the 31 years Pam and her husband lived in Atlanta, she directed the Rape Crisis Center in Cobb County and later was director of the Victim-Witness Assistance Program for the Cobb County District Attorney. In that capacity she was an Officer of the Court. Upon retirement, she worked as a substitute teacher in high schools in Cobb County, Georgia, as well as in Mount Pleasant, SC.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Richard West; her daughter, Dr. Chandra L. West-Fort of Nashville, Tennessee; and her sister, Cindy Dumont of Roswell, Georgia.
Consistent with her wishes, the family will not have a service or funeral.
