She was the wife of the late Richard Wiley Gilbert to whom she was married for twenty-eight years.
She was born August 6, 1933 in Clifton Forge to the late Percy Kline Newcomb, Sr and Beulah Callahan.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded by her sister and brother-in-law Joy and George Noel and brother Percy Kline Newcomb, Jr.
During her working career, she was employed by the former Jane Colby and then Boys’ Home until her retirement, was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church, Circle No. 4, Clifton Forge Moose, the Red Hats, the Hand and Foot Card Club, the Covington Senior Citizens, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Connie is survived by three daughters, Deborah (Richard) Bowyer, Donna Gil, Teresa (Peter) Turner; three granddaughters and a brother-in-law, Lang Gilbert and sister-in-law, Joyce Newcomb.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 7, 2018 at McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Patrick Pettit officiating.
