She was born March 23, 1959 in Salt Lake City to Keith S. and Bettie Mayer Jenkins. She attended Rose Park Elementary, Clayton Junior High, and Highland High School. She studied journalism at the University of Utah.
Her passion to find answers led her to the Deseret News copy department. She followed her co-workers to Washington, D.C. and worked on Capitol Hill for a small newspaper. After five years, she was hired by the Smithsonian Institute as they were opening the African Art Museum. She worked at the Smithsonian for twelve years and due to health problems, she retired early and moved back to St. George to be with family.
Anita has been residing in care centers for the past three and half years in St. George and Salt Lake. Anita loved her niece, Angie, who was very kind and helpful to her. Everybody who knew Anita felt her love and knew that she was a kind and generous person.
Anita is survived by her brother, Glen M. Jenkins, St. George; and niece, Angie Perry, Vermont. Preceded in death by her parents and brother, Brent K. Jenkins.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Newton City Cemetery, Newton. Friends and family may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street, on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
