Colleen, 69, died peacefully at home on January 11, 2013 in Olympia, Washington, after a courageous battle with Lymphoma. She was born November 2, 1943 to Meade and Emma Haag in Olympia. She graduated from Olympia High School in 1962, and married Ed Zabel, who she met as a teenager while working at Zabel’s drive-in theater. They had two daughters. Colleen later married Ralph C. Adams in 1977 and they enjoyed nearly 36 years together.

Colleen started her professional career with her lifelong friend, Ruth, at the U.S. Forest Service, advancing from receptionist to Public Affairs Specialist. After retirement, she continued to keep busy with various jobs, including lobby assistant, landscaper, travel agent, and part-time physical therapy receptionist.

Colleen always looked perfect and had a radiant smile that lit up every room. She loved her volunteer work at the Wildlife Rescue in McCleary with her sister-in-law, Cherie. She also loved spending time with family (especially her daughters and grandchildren), gardening, landscaping, pets, traveling, and being near the water (but not in it). She was a world class shopper who rarely missed a good bargain. She also was very active with Corvettes de Olympia.

Colleen is survived by her husband, Ralph; daughters, brother, sister, and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Jeannine Larsen.
