Veteran of World War 11Douglas R. Arnold, 91, of Taylor Hill Rd, Griswold CT, a former resident of Scituate, Rhode Island, died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 15, 2016. He was the loving husband of the late Shirley (Smyth) Arnold.

Born on May 24, 1924 in Warwick, Rhode Island he was the son of the late Clifton and Charlotte (Williams) Arnold.

Douglas was a veteran of World War II having honorably served with the United States Army. Prior to his retirement he worked as a bookkeeper for 35 years at Congdon & Carpenter in Providence.
He is survived by four children, Stevens R. Arnold and wife Donna, Scott W. Arnold, Brian D. Arnold, and Charlotte R. Brown; 8 grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Wilbur Arnold.
