Kenneth R. Abney, Jr., 78, a lifelong resident of Decatur passed away at Starr Regional Medical Center in Athens, March 30, 2018. He was born in Anderson, Indiana. He proudly served four years in the United States Navy. Mr. Abney enjoyed woodworking, jigsaw puzzles and having fun.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Ida Abney, his first wife, Jo Francis Abney, and a brother-in-law, Stanley Weisensel.

Survivors include his loving wife of 17 years, Lucille Abney of Decatur; a son, Steve Abney of Rockford, IL; two daughters, Kena Long of Decatur and Kendra Trogglin of Chattanooga; a step-son, Curtis Ward of Creston, IL; a step-daughter, Rebecca Luse of Belvidere, IL; a brother, David Abney of Rockford, IL; a sister, Yolanda Weisensel of New Milford, IL; 10 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

No local services are planned. Burial with military honors will be held at a later date in Fairmont Cemetery in Polo, IL.
