Obituary for Johnny Lee Barnes
Johnny Lee Barnes, 79, passed away after an accident at his home in New Site on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. He was born in Prentiss County on August 2, 1938, to Delmus and Flaura Hoard Barnes. Johnny was a member of the National Guard. He was retired from Commercial Carriers where he worked for 28 years. He loved fishing, traveling and spending time with his family and grandkids.

Funeral services with military honors will be Saturday, March 31, 2018, at 2:00 PM at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John William and Bro. Dustin Smith officiating. Visitation will be Friday evening 5:00 until 8:00. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Barnes of New Site; his children, Terry Barnes (Phyllis) of Tupelo, Garry Barnes (Cindy) of Marietta, Lee Pounds, Christi Lambert (Brent), and Kerry Pounds (Susan) all of Dennis; his grandchildren, Jeremy Barnes (Ashli), Alanah Blakney, Alex Barnes, Taylor Caveness (Austin), Dustin Smith (Cilia), Tyler Smith, Laken Fuller (Matt), and Brodi Pounds; his great-grandchildren, Bentley Barnes, Reid Caveness, Baylor Barnes, Wes Caveness, Jack Barnes, Gatlin Barnes, Madelyn Sun, Ella Kate Fuller, Jax Fuller and Catherine Smith; his sisters, Deborah Morris (Jimmy) of Cairo, Betty Williams (John) of Dennis; his brothers, Eugene Barnes of Cairo and Von Ray Barnes (Jackie) of Joilet, Ill; a sister-in-law, Jo Barnes of Nesbit; and a brother-in-law, Roy Clark of Myrtle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Laverne Barnes; two sisters, Joy Clark and Joyce Moreland; a niece, Lisa Janea; and nephew, Rickey Barnes.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Barnes, Lee Pounds, Rickey Stanley, Austin Caveness, Brodi Pounds, Dale Michael, and James Harold Moreland.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
