Dorothy Lauffer Toy, 100, of Vandergrift died Tuesday, August 16, 2005 in West Haven Nursing Home.

Born Dec. 3, 1904, in Pittsburgh, she lived in Vandergrift since 1911.

Mrs. Toy was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Vandergrift, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She also served on church council and was a Gold Star Mother. Dorothy enjoyed cooking and sewing.

Survivors include a son, Donald L. (Marie) Toy of Vandergrift; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Murray and Ella Willard Lauffer; her husband, Carl A. Toy; a son, Carl A. Toy; three sisters, Mildred Lauffer Stitt, Grace Lauffer Held and Eleanor Lauffer Turney; a brother, James Willard Lauffer; and a great-granddaughter, Maggie Alyse Toy.

At Dorothy's request, there will be no visitation. Services by the Reverend Phil Gustafson will be private and at a later date. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. Arrangements by BRADY-CURRAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 429 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift.
