Mary Jane Tucker Abbott, 78, of Verona, Ky., died Friday, April 6, 2007, at her home.

She was born Dec. 5, 1928, in Blue Ash, Hamilton County, Ohio, the daughter of John Everett and Rebecca Suzanne Adkins Tucker. Currently a homemaker, she was a grill cook at the former Churchill Manor Restaurant in Carrollton, Ky. She was a member of Poplar Ridge Baptist Church in Bedford, Ky., and was a past auxiliary commander of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 55 in Madison.

She is survived by five daughters, Rebecca Lucas of Carrollton, Ky., Rose Hatmaker of Verona, Ky., Darlene Anderson of Charlotte, N.C., Debbie Pennington of Hanford, Calif., and Joyce Gautier of South Gate, Ky.; two sons, Norman Abbott of Ghent, Ky., and Terry Abbott of Bedford, Ky.; three sisters, Clara Gividen of Bedford, Ky., Patricia Kitchens of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Frances Patterson of New Castle, Ky.; two brothers, Leo Tucker of Milton, Ky., and Joseph Tucker of Bedford, Ky.; 27 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Edward Abbott, who died July 31, 2003; two daughters, Clara Knox and Ruth Singer; one infant son, Christopher Abbott; three sisters, Sarah Tucker, Alberta Tucker and Della Tucker; and one brother, Everett Tucker.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton, Ky. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

VERONA, Ky. – Mary Jane Tucker Abbott, 78, of Verona, died at her residence on Friday, April 6, 2007.

Funeral services were Monday, April 9, at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave., Carrollton, Ky., with the Revs. Donald Hatmaker and Paul Limato officiating. Burial was in Carrollton I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Mrs. Abbott was born Dec. 5, 1928, in Blue Ash, Hamilton County, Ohio, the daughter of the late John Everett Tucker and Rebecca Suzanne (Adkins) Tucker.

She married William Edward Abbott.
