James Daniel Beavers, 71, of Ottumwa, died at 10:03 a.m. March 27, 2018 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

He was born November 30, 1946 in Princeton, MO to James Robert and Isabelle Mae Rouse Beavers. He married Donna Haggard on June 3, 1971 in Lineville, IA.

Danny served with the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1968. He started working as a science teacher at Mercer High School in Missouri and then was a medical technologist at Ottumwa Regional Health Center, retiring in 2014.
He enjoyed gardening, exercising, bike riding, and participating in the Des Moines Dam to Dam Marathon. He loved to take his dog, Fritz on bike rides and walking in the park.

Surviving is his wife, Donna; a daughter, Adrienne (Brent) Ancell of Bondurant; 3 granddaughters, Mollie, Kate and Emilie; siblings, Debbie (Roger) Calloway of Oregon, David (Donna) Beavers of Missouri and Donna (Dean) Siemer of Missouri; a mother-in-law, Chastine Haggard of Missouri; a brother-in-law, Bill (Barb) Haggard of Illinois; a sister-in-law, Debbie (Tim) Wellendorf of Florida; numerous nieces and nephews; his best friends, his dog Fritz and his cats, Leonard and Winston.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

His body has been cremated.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mercer Baptist Church in Missouri with Brent Ancell officiating. The church will be open at 9:30 a.m. for friends to visit with the family.

Inurnment and military services will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Lineville, IA following the memorial service.
Memorials may be made to World Outreach Church in Ankeny, IA or to Heartland Humane Society in Ottumwa.
