CHERRYFIELD - Hilda M. Nichols, 93, oldest resident of Cherryfield, passed away peacefully at her home on March 27, 2018, with her family at her side. She was born on July 21, 1924, the fifth child of Charles and Lydia (Sinclair) Carter. She was a graduate of Harrington High School, class of 1943. She was a school bus driver for 25 years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing her own clothes, as well as her daughters. She loved spending time at the cottage on Tunk Lake. She was a member and enjoyed attending church at Faith Bible Fellowship Church in Milbridge.
She is survived by three sons, Daniel, Richard, and Robert, and a daughter, Judith Nichols Bradley; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Henry O. Nichols Jr., a son, Kenneth, an infant daughter, Karen; five brothers, and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2018, at the Faith Bible Fellowship Church, Milbridge, with Rev. Ambrose Rolfe officiating. Interment will be held later in spring at the Intervale Cemetery, Cherryfield.
