Gary “Bird” Atkins, of Beckley died on March, 23, 2018 in a car accident. He was born March 27, 1967 in Chicago, IL.

Gary was a huge Nascar fan and a diehard Ford fanatic. He was a self-taught chef who enjoyed cooking and feeding his friends and family. He was a mechanic by trade learning these skills from his years of working for his uncles, Big Jr. & Larry, and with his cousin Boogie (Larry Jr.) at Big Jr’s towing in Columbus OH. He was currently caretaker for his mother.

He is survived by his mother, Linda G. Harrah-Atkins-Stanley (1946-2019), of Beckley, WV; two daughters, Tessa Atkins-Walton & husband Eric Walton of Lakeland, FL and Tori Atkins of Pax, WV; two brothers, Solon Atkins, Jr. of Beckley WV and Dusty Stanley & wife Carla Stanley of Mt. Hope, WV; two grandsons, Zaiden Walton and Silas Walton of Lakeland FL; nephews, Cole Stanley of Mt. Hope, WV and Wesley Atkins of AL; and a niece, Ashley Atkins of AL; along with many other loving family and friends .

He was preceded in death by his father, Solon Atkins Sr. (Deceased), his maternal grandparents, Theodore "Ted" R. Harrah (1913-1978) and Hester A. Martin-Harrah (1917-2004); his paternal grandparents, Walter Atkins (Deceased)and Ruby Atkins (Deceased); and a nephew, Adam Wade Atkins (Deceased).

There will be a Memorial Service on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 7:00 PM at The Cranberry Baptist Church with Adam Trzicak Officiating. Friends may call from 5:30 PM until the time of service.
