He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Barrett Sr.; two brothers, Marvin and Paul Barrett and a nephew, James Barrett.
He is survived by his mother, Ruth Blanton Barrett of Shelby; two sons, Elizha Barrett of Asheville and David Barrett of Forest City; a daughter, Brandie Barrett of Polkville;a brother, Hubert and wife Kathy Barrett of Shelby; two nephews ; Jason & Matt Barrett and three nieces, Lisa, Karen and and Janice Elmore all of Shelby and three grandchildren, Kara, Cassie and Ian Elmore, and very special love, Marjory Collier of the home.
A private service will be held at a later date.
