Gerald C. Parsons, of Iuka, Mississippi died Friday, February 23, 2018 at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth.

Gerald was born in Iuka, MS on May 24, 1934. He married Earlene on May 30, 1958; they were married almost 60 years. Gerald filled his life with God, family and service to his country and community.Gerald was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. At the time of his death, he was a member and served as an Elder at the Burnsville Church of Christ. Due to his love and devotion to God and the Church, he instilled the same qualities in his family.

Gerald was drafted into the United States Army in 1952 where he served 7 years as a U.S. Army Corpsman. During that time he served in the Korean Conflict, and also assisted in placing James Meredith at the University of Mississippi. After his service in the Army, Gerald continued his service by serving his community.

In 1972 he was elected as Tishomingo County’s Second District Supervisor. He served as Supervisor for 16 years before being elected as Tishomingo County’s Circuit Court Clerk, where he served 8 years. During retirement, Gerald spent his mornings at Jack’s with the coffee club and his days looking after the family farm and enjoying time with his beautiful family on Parson’s Hill.

He is survived by his wife, Earlene Ruby Cain Parsons of Iuka; his sister and his four children. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, as well as 10 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Mae Parsons; his brother, Lawrence Parsons; his sister in law, Eugenia Parsons; and one great-grandson, Maverick Parsons.

Family will receive guests at Iuka Church of Christ on Sunday, February 25th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m, and visitation will also continue until service time on Monday. A celebration of life will be held at Iuka Church of Christ at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 26th, 2018.

Ron Adams, Rick Jones and Lance Foster will officiate the service.

Keith Parsons, Gary Parsons, Wyatt Wallace, Carl DeVaney, Jordan Briggs, Tate Cannon, Ronald Seaton, and Donald Berryman will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include the Morning Coffee Crew at Jacks.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org, or to the Burnsville Church of Christ.
