Mr. Ray, born in Fayetteville, NC; was th son of the late Neill Duncan Ray and Minnie Mae Strickland Ray.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ray Pickard.
He was a faithful member of First Apostolic Church in Sanford and was retired from the U.S. Army with 21 years of service. He also retired from GKN. He lived to ride his motorcycle but mostly loved his family, church, and country.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Darling Ray; sons, Frank Westfall and wife Debbie of Sanford; Donald Westfall and wife Jenefer Lyn of Utah; Darrell Westfall and wife Paula of Fayetteville; Carl Ray, Jr. of Cameron; Shelia Davis of Cameron, who is like a daughter; sisters, Barbara Ray Garner of Cameron,; Rebecca Yvonne Biggins and husband John of Goldsboro; Glenda Fay ray of Sanford; Debbie Ray Smith and husband Terry of Vass; two grandchildren.
