Jeremy Vaughn Nixon, age 41, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018. He had lived most of his life in Big Stone Gap and had worked in construction and was of the Baptist faith. Jeremy was a beloved son, brother, and uncle. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, Nascar and college football.
Jeremy is preceded in death by his grandmother Dorothy Nelson and grandfather Erskine Nixon.
Survivors include his mother Lela Nixon of Pennington Gap, VA; his father Philip Nixon of Coeburn, VA; brother John (P. J.) Nixon and wife Connie of Bristol, VA; his loving dog Shy. Grandmother Marjorie Florence Nixon; uncle Roy Nixon and wife Malinda; aunt Anna Lou Rose and husband Bobby all of Coeburn, VA. Cousins Brian Nixon, Heather Long, John Nixon and other extended family members and many friends.
Family will receive friends on Friday, March 30, 2018, at the Mullins-Sturgill Funeral Home of Pennington Gap, VA, from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Paul Davis, JR. officiating. Graveside services will be on Saturday, March 31, 2018, in the Cecil-Fry Cemetery in Pennington Gap, VA. Those planning to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m. and services will be at 1 p.m.
