On November 23, 2017, Captain Robert Emmet Fenton of Gambrills, MD, passed away after a brief illness at the age of 75. Capt Fenton was a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (1963) and retired from active duty at twenty-three years. During that time, he served as the Commanding Officer (CO) of the USCGC DEPENDABLE. He spent the remainder of his career as a civilian contractor supporting the Federal Aviation Administration. He also earned five postgraduate degrees (MS, MSEE, MEA, MIA and MEM). In his retirement, he served as a docent at the U.S. Naval Academy Museum and an Adjunct Lecturer at UMBC and George Washington University. He is survived by his wife, Anne Marie, brothers, John and Joseph, daughters, Suzanne Franus (husband John) and Patricia Kevit (husband Zack), and grandchildren, Jack (7), Ava, (6), Brady (2) and Casey (8 months).

Family will receive friends on Monday, November 27, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy (Rt. 3 South), Bowie, MD. Funeral services will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1800 Seton Drive, Crofton, MD on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 11 a.m., with a pending date for burial services at Arlington National Cemetery.
