Prisoner of war at Richmond, Virginia where he died from wounds received in combat.

Michael married Margaret Ann Brookbank Nov. 14, 1855 at Wilmore, Cambria County, by Justice of the Peace William Palmer. He had been married prior to this to ? Lance who appears to have died during childbirth of a son, Michael.

It is highly possible that Michael's remains were re-interred as an "Unknown" in Richmond National Cemetery after the war, along with the remains of other prisoners whose identities had been lost.
