Herbert Earnest Thompson
January 25, 1931 - March 24, 2018

Herbert Earnest Thompson, 87, of Salisbury, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Novant Health-Rowan Medical Center.

Born in Rowan County on January 25, 1931, he was the son of the late Lawrence Reid Thompson and Goldie Vivian Lanning Thompson. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, William, James and Thomas.

Mr. Thompson was a graduate of Granite Quarry High School and served in the United States Marine Corp from 1948-1957. He was a member of Cabarrus Masonic Lodge #720.

On July 27, 1952, Herbert married Nancy Myrick Thompson, who survives. They have shared 65 years together.
In addition to Nancy, he is also survived by his sons, Timothy Thompson and Steven Thompson.

A graveside service with Military and Masonic rites will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Salisbury National Cemetery – Statesville Blvd.
