Winifred “Winn” Mary (McPortland) Johnson, age 86, passed away peacefully March 2, 2018 at Wingate at Silverlake in Kingston. She was the daughter of the late John and Rose (Farrell) McPortland and was the wife of the late Donald Johnson.
Winn was born on December 5, 1931 in Boston. She was employed as a licensed social worker for many years at the West Acres Nursing Home in Brockton. She enjoyed traveling and was a Westinghouse Scholarship Finalist. She most enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren and hosting generations of family for special occasions. Winn was a devout and dedicated member of the Catholic Church her entire life.
Devoted mother of Rosanne Johnson Gentile of Weymouth, Mary and her husband Dave Florek of Norwood, Elizabeth and her husband Ray Masi of FL, Nanci Johnson and her husband Robert Burr of Carver and the late Mark Johnson and Donna Johnson. Loving grandmother of twelve and great grandmother of fourteen. Sister of the late John McPortland, Peter McPortland, Rose Doyle, Philomena Sullivan, Sister Mary Angelus (Molly) McPortland and Theresa Dalton. Also survived by many adoring nieces and nephews as well as grandnieces and grandnephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 58 Carpenter Street, Foxborough. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Foxborough MA.
