Robert Earl Hanke, 86, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 in Melbourne, Florida.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dolores Joan Hanke; his sons, David Hanke, Bradley Hanke, and Timothy Hanke; his daughter Robin Holmes; his brother Walt Hanke; his grandchildren, Arwyn Holmes, Timothy Hanke, Aaron Hanke, Alex Hanke; Aimee Dearing, Christopher Hanke, Melissa Hanke and Rebecca Hanke. His great grandchildren are Charles Hanke, Isabella Hanke, McKenna Hanke, Tabitha Hanke, Emma Hanke, Ethan Hanke, Adaline Hanke, Gabriel Adams, Gavin Adams, Lexi Dearing, Kash Dearing, Ace Dearing, Evie Dearing, Drake Messer, Niko Messer, and Noble Hanke.

Born on Dec. 7, 1930 and raised in Golden, Illinois he was the son of Elmer and Geneva Hanke. After graduating from Golden Community High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as Staff Sargent. in the 19th bomb group in Okinawa , flying missions over Korea as a gunner.

After completing service, he resided with his wife and children in Lexington, Kentucky and Winter Park, Florida. He and his wife moved to Sebastian, Florida, where he owned and operated REH Trucking Company. He then worked with his wife Joan for the United States National Park Service at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, in Borrego Springs, California, in Yellowstone and in Siesta Key, Florida.

He then lived in full retirement close to family in Lexington, Kentucky and Palm Bay, Florida. Bob was an avid Florida Gator fan, cheering the football team on to many national championships.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 6 at 10:30a.m. at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 2200 Port Malabar Blvd. in Palm Bay, Florida.
